2023 UASA Math paper format & Tips for Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK), SJKC & SJKT
With the new Ujian Akhir Sesi Akademik, UASA, Ministry of Education Malaysia changed the format of exam papers as well. This is applicable for all core or mandatory subjects for sekolah rendah UASA, ie Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik, Sains and Sejarah.
We shared the details of format for Bahasa Melayu (BM) and Bahasa Inggeris (BI) before, now we are going to focus on Matematik here.
Summary of changes in 2023 UASA Matematik exam paper
- no more objective questions
- 2 parts only, Bahagian A and Bahagian B
- Bahagian B consist of only 2 but (really!) long questions with 12 marks per question

Now, let’s talk about the UASA Math exam paper format in details.
Bahagian A: subjective questions between 1 to 3 marks, total of 13 questions with 26 marks
- Questions here can be simple and direct one with only 1 mark, up to 3 marks for those ‘soalan berayat’
- For 1-mark question, just get the answer, don’t worry about providing full working or steps of calculation
- For 2 and 3 marks questions, do provide more details, and pay attention to units (if applicable)
Bahagian B: only 2 questions here, 12 marks each, total 24 marks
- Each question is 12 marks, with many sub-questions
- Even the sub-questions here can be 3 marks each
- Do provide the details working steps here, use the right metric unit
- No optional questions here, students must answer every question in Bahagian B
How to tackle 2023 UASA Matematik
Since there isn’t any objective questions, students can’t even ‘tikam’ the anwer, hoping to score a point here and there, here are some of the tips that you can do to help:
- Before exam, do more practice and exercises, especially those in the new UASA format
- For higher mark question, even if you don’t understand the question, try your best to guess and write down your working
- Plan your time well, spend more time to the long questions in Bahagian B
- If you are stuck in any question in Bahagian A, just make a mental note and come back to it later
- Most importantly, do NOT panic. Although the exam format has changed but the syllabus is the same, you can do it!
